"One of the best CPR courses I have done. I had a great teacher. Very involved hands on real life situations that help put a situation in perspective as a first aider. Learned a lot, good energy which made the course more enjoyable. I wish more teachers/instructors had this real life approach and sense of humour. Normally training can be very boring, but I genuinely enjoyed this 2 day course."

  • How do I sign up?
There are several options: You can book online by going to the "Upcoming Classes" page on this website or fill out this form to set up a private/corporate course or send an email to Info@ForestCityFirstAid.com or message us on FaceBook/Instagram @ForestCityFirstAid and we will help you set up a course that works for everyone! You can sign up for an private course just for your group (we charge minimum 6 people).
  • Are your certifications recognized by the Ontario's Workplace Safety & Insurance Board?
YES! Our first aid and CPR courses are WSIB approved. This means that if you need it for work your employer will accept our certifications.
  • Are textbooks and other training materials provided?
Yes! Unlike other agencies who requires you to pay extra for training materials like a textbook we provide everything you need for training at no additional cost. If you would like to purchase a textbook of your own, you can do that in the classroom by letting your instructor know.
  • How will I receive my certification?
The instructor will give you a temporary certifications after the course ends if successful, and the Lifesaving Society of Ontario will mail you the certification within 90 days. This way you will have proof immediately after the course! Once you get your certification in the mail you'll also have access to an online version by entering your 6 digit code found on your certification here.
  • Can I take the SFA Recert?
WSIB'S SFA RECERT POLICY: The Ontario Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) specifies that Standard First Aid (SFA) award holders may recertify just once on a SFA recertification course. To renew a SFA certification subsequently, WSIB requires you to repeat the full course. Thereafter, you may renew by alternating recertifications and original courses. If your SFA certification is older than three years, WSIB requires that you take the full course (not a recert) again. Holders of Standard First Aid certificates must recertify only with the original certifying agency. Check your Lifesaving Society qualifications using "Find a Member" before you attend your Standard First Aid recertification to make sure you meet WSIB's requirement.
  • How many people will be in the course with me?
To provide the best experience possible and to create a safer environment for you to learn, class size will cap off at 16 candidates. If your group is bigger than 16, we can have a bigger class with no problem. Just shoot us a message and we'll set it up a private course with you right away!
  • I want a private course, how does it work?
Please fill out this form and we will get in touch with you right away. Let us know what days are best for you and you have the option of choosing to take it at our location or at the comfort of your home/business for additional $10 per person. There must be enough space for the group to work on the ground. If there's a TV/projector for the instructor to use that's great but in case you don't have one just let us know and we can bring our own. All private courses will be charged a minimum for 6 people. This means if you have a group smaller than 6 we still charge as if there were 6 people. Once the dates and times are set 50% deposit will be required to secure your booking. The other 50% will be due at the end of the course.
  • Why should I take my course with you?
With Forest City First Aid, you will be in a smaller group, maximum of 16 candidates to experience the top quality and fun course. You will get a chance to practice actually giving artificial breaths on realistic manikins (other organizations rarely ever do this because of larger class sizes and extra cost). At an additional cost, we can come to your location to teach, and we are flexible with scheduling as well. We have a 99.9% pass rate because our highly skilled instructors know what they are doing and how to help you succeed.
  • How long will the course take?
We customize each class to the candidates work, career, needs and wants. The actual time needed may vary depending on course format, the number of candidates and the learning activities selected. One weekend formats are common. Based on 12–16 candidates: Emergency First Aid: ~8 hours, Standard First Aid: ~16 hours, SFA Recert: ~6.5-8 hours, CPR-A/B/C: ~4-8 hours, CPR-HCP: ~5-8 hours, Airway Management: ~2hours. We want you to be prepared, comfortable and get certified!
  • Do I need to bring or prepare anything?
Unless you are taking the SFA Recert or the Airway Management course you don’t need to bring anything but feel free to bring something to take notes. Please bring your SFA certification to the SFA Recert and the Airway Management course or your Lifesaving Society ID. Equipment will be provided for you. All we ask from you is energy and excitement to learn!
  • What is the Lifesaving Society ID and where can I find mine?

If you are not comfortable with putting your mouth on the pocket mask that is okay but we highly encourage you to do so for practice. How fast and how much you blow into the lungs do matter, and it’s fun! (At this time due to covid we are not putting our mouth on any equipment)
  • What do I do if I don't receive my certification in the mail within 90 days?
Please contact the Lifesaving Society of Ontario 416-490-8844 if you do not receive your permanent card before the 90 day expiry date.
